The Fowler family was such a joy to work with! The farm that we took pictures around has been in their family for over 100 years, and started out as a dairy farm. When we first arrived, it was pouring down rain, but we didn’t let the rain stop us! We took pictures inside of the old barn and we were able to use the natural light to make the pictures really stand out.
Part of their family was in visiting from California, and it was the first time that they had all been together in a long time, so we wanted to make sure and get all seven members of the family together for a great family portrait.
Although we got a break in the middle, it started raining again, so we went to their front porch and got some great shots.
Darcy and Darby were especially fun to take pictures of, and naturally posed for us. We had so much fun capturing them!
One of the funnest parts of the shoot, and certainly a first for us, was when Darby went into the chicken coop and caught us a chicken to use as a prop. He had a little bit of trouble and the one that was able to be caught wasn’t the prettiest, but we loved him all the same!
What a better way to showcase their 40th anniversary than by holding a chicken?
One of the advantages to shooting in the rain and then having it suddenly clear up is that we were able to capture a rainbow, which signifies so many of the promises that God has made toward us.
The family linked hands as they ascended the hill toward the setting sun.
With the sun setting, we were able to get some great silhouettes of the whole family.
