Wedding photos are often one of the most squandered opportunities for great and fun pictures of you and your loved ones. How often does a person hire a photographer in their life? They should be utilizing those opportunities to work with a professional and taking fun, fabulous, and unique photos. Far too many families settle for traditional, basic, and boring photos rather than putting some personality into it.
Don’t Be So Stiff!

The first point isn’t about arranging people, or anything photography related. It’s about learning how to relax. Even if you’re smiling, people can still tell if you’re stressed out and tense. The anxiousness seems to travel through you, into the camera, and even unto the photo held by a friend months later. Loosen up. To have a fun picture, you’ll need to have a little fun yourself. This is incredibly simple but cannot be understated. A great photographer is incredibly talented, but not magic. They cannot change reality; they simply capture it.
Show Your Personality!

People are unique, and it’s their uniqueness that makes them beloved by others. Everyone knows a person that they love being around because they’re just incredibly sunny and optimistic. People have friends and loved ones with major shopping habits, purse collections, or who are cat ladies and it’s these interesting traits and qualities that they are so adored over. Let your pictures reflect who you are.
For example, if the maid of honor had a spending habit that she was known for, pose her with money, appearing to be bribing the bride to stay single with her. Everyone would see that and instantly recognize what’s occurring. If it’s done correctly, your picture will tell a tale without the need for words. Maybe the groom loves basketball? Have the bride presenting a basketball to him the way he proposed an engagement ring to her. That would be adorable.
Another fun idea is to involve your friends and family in your Trash The Dress photos. You could have a paint fight with washable paint or even toss washable colored dust like what’s used in the Indian Festival of Color. The resulting photos will be unforgettable!

There are so many great ways to spice up your family wedding photos. The biggest keys are to go casual, to let yourself loosen up a bit, and to have fun. Don’t try to be people that you aren’t and create new characters for the cameras. Show off who you and your party is, eccentricities and all. Find a way to commemorate the moment in a truly special way, unlike any others before you. If you find yourself struggling to come up with ideas, let’s talk!
